That's bad writing, and it marred my enjoyment of this book considerably. It puzzles me why her recent reviewers praise the quality of her writing. I think it's just so-so, in this book at least ('Ask For Me Tomorrow' was better, but I read it in vintage paperback so maybe my critical standards weren't tuned so high!).Keen Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18171491573514489497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-499247432649483938.post-55578409508778755262013-03-26T06:58:21.804-04:002013-03-26T06:58:21.804-04:00I personally prefer the first cover I've shown...I personally prefer the first cover I've shown, which is from the wonderful IPL editions. Possibly that affected my appreciation of the plot cleverness.Keen Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18171491573514489497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-499247432649483938.post-89546844103360950412013-03-25T11:18:28.037-04:002013-03-25T11:18:28.037-04:00Her masterpiece, I think, because it's her bes...Her masterpiece, I think, because it's her best novel. I, too, figured out the surprise of the final chapter. But the solution doesn't really matter. The book as a whole and all of its intriguing characters are far more interesting than the mystery aspect.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-499247432649483938.post-68655506386415977712013-03-25T07:43:52.693-04:002013-03-25T07:43:52.693-04:00I share your admiration for this wonderful, and wo...I share your admiration for this wonderful, and wonderfully clever, book.
